On May 5, 2008, Family Tree DNA (our lab) updated it's Y chromosome haplogroup tree nomenclature to match that recommended, by Dr. Hammer and other researchers, in the "Genome Research" publication. The Richmond DNA Project Website has now been updated to reflect that change.

You may have noticed the letter/number designations of your haplogroup have changed to reflect this new standard.

While the name of the haplogroup a person belongs to may change, and will continue to change as more haplogroup branches are discovered and published, their actual DNA testing results and interpretation remain the same.

You can find more information about this here: http://www.familytreedna.com/hap_nomenclature.html
